Grenfell Tower council accused of ‘cover-up’ after trying to hold a key meeting on the tragedy in SECRET then cancelling it when reporters were allowed in
‘Councillors linked to the Grenfell Tower blaze have been accused of a ‘cover up’ after barring the public from a behind-closed-doors meeting about the disaster, and bringing it to an end when the press entered.
There were angry scenes outside the Town Hall as survivors and members of the public were kept out of the first meeting since the tragedy, which is so far known to have claimed 80 lives, with many more missing.
Contracted security guards prevented survivors of the tragedy and members of the public from getting into the building, and police were called.
Leaders faced a call to resign during the brief meeting, which was brought to an end when reporters walked in.
Officials at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea had earlier tried to ban access on public safety grounds.’
