New head of the doctors’ union claims hospital crisis is being engineered by the government to ‘accelerate’ privatisation of the NHS
‘The new head of the doctors’ union claims ministers have deliberately engineered a hospital crisis to pave the way for privatisation.
Dr Chaand Nagpaul said the Government had persistently underfunded the Health Service to ‘accelerate’ the takeover by for-profit firms.
He said overcrowding and long waits for routine operations had been ‘consciously created’, forcing GPs to refer patients to private treatment centres…
…Addressing up to 500 doctors at the BMA’s annual conference in Bournemouth, Dr Nagpaul said their profession had been ‘set up to fail’.
He proposed a motion for debate which stated ‘the crisis in NHS hospitals has been consciously created by the Government in order to accelerate its transformation plans for private sector takeover of healthcare in England’.’
