US-led coalition bombs an ISIS prison in Syria killing 42 ‘civilian’ prisoners and 15 jihadists, activists say
‘An airstrike by US-led coalition warplanes destroyed a prison in eastern Syria and killed 42 prisoners, activists say.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a strike the town of Mayadin, in Deir Ezzor province, struck the jail in the early hours of Monday.
Fifteen ISIS militants died in the strike alongside the prisoners, which included civilians and members of rebel groups fighting ISIS, activist group Deirezzor24 said.
After the strike, the bodies of the dead were paraded through the streets by ISIS, activists claimed.
A coalition spokesman confirmed the area had been targeted by bombers overnight Sunday and into Monday, but could not say whether the jail was hit.’
