Bank of England governor Mark Carney has been given £1MILLION to pay his rent – that’s £5,000 a week
‘Bank of England governor Mark Carney has raked in £1million in housing allowances since starting his role in 2013.
This means Mr Carney receives £5,000 per week to help with his rent as part of a benefits package agreed by George Osborne.
The then Chancellor offered the lucrative deal to tempt the former Goldman Sachs banker across the pond – and make up for London’s expensive property prices.
Mr Carney, 52, first set up in West Hampstead, where he gained plaudits by taking the Tube to work, The Times reported.
His wife, Diana, has previously tweeted her worries about the difficulties of finding a house in London, provoking some raised eyebrows.’
