This Week in Congress Round Up
Yesterday, the Senate passed legislation overturning President Trump’s declaration of an emergency at the border. The vote was 59-41. You can see the roll-call here.
On Wednesday the Senate voted on S.J.Res. 7, a resolution ending US involvement in the Yemen Civil War. The resolution passed by a vote of 54-46.
Here is the vote.
Kudos to Representative Thomas Massie (KY-04) for being the only member of the House who voted against H.R. 596, which forbids the US Government to recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea (never mind that Crimea was part of Russia for centuries until communist leader Nikita Khrushchev “gifted” Crimea to Ukraine ) and H.Res. 156, which called for accountability in the death of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov because the US Congress must hold all governments accountable.
These bills serve no purpose except to set the stage for a new cold war and those members who usually vote against militarism should be ashamed of themselves.
