Use of the term ‘false flag’ is often met with raised eyebrows and accusations of conspiracism. But false flags are a very real and very present feature of geopolitics — and denying that is simply denying reality. Last week, the United States, along with the United Kingdom and France, bombed Syrian government targets, ostensibly in retaliation for an alleged chemical attack which was carried out one week before in the city of Douma. The story we’re told is simple: Syrian President Bashar Assad is an evil maniac who uses poison gas on his citizens for the sheer entertainment value. As … Continue reading →

The term “tyranny of the majority” was coined by Alexis DeTocqueville. The concept had previously been explored by John Locke and John Stuart Mill and also greatly influenced the founders of the United States, who preferred a decentralized, federal republican form of government as opposed to a pure democracy. The concept is simple: without a rule of law that stands over and against the majority, 51% of the population could democratically kill or enslave the other 49%. Obviously, the greater the majority, the greater the risk. But if this tendency to harm the minority is the centrifugal force of democracy, there … Continue reading →

In his latest podcast, Peter Schiff said we are basically enjoying the calm before the storm right now. With the US missile strike in Syria, rumblings of a trade war and a generally weak dollar, gold briefly flirted with $1,365 last week. But the anticipation of Federal Reserve rate hikes continues to create strong headwinds against the yellow metal. Last week, the Fed released its March FOMC minutes and most analysts interpreted them as “hawkish.” In fact, many people now think the Fed will nudge rates up again in June, leaving six months to get in the much-anticipated third hike of the … Continue reading →

The National Press Club hosted a press conference in Washington, D.C. on April 10, 2018 that revealed important news about the strategic attack on free speech and First Amendment rights directed at alternative media. It’s unlikely many are aware of this important information since the corporate media didn’t show up. Infowars founder and broadcaster Alex Jones focused on what he said were hundreds of frivolous defamation lawsuits intended to drive him and others in the independent press out of business and current censorship tactics being used against the alternative media on social media platforms. Other speakers were Contributing Editor Roger … Continue reading →

It’s another school walkout today, so you know what that means: Facebook is full of rational discussion about guns. All right, probably not. Ever since the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018, the debate over gun ownership – social media has been even more toxic than usual. The gun-control side has in general been content to attribute vile motives to their opponents, and to contend that people arguing for gun rights prefer guns over their own children. Their reaction has made the debate over the 73 genders seem downright civil. I wouldn’t say they’re being dishonest. It’s … Continue reading →

In 2004 I published an article in the journal, Middle East Policy that was entitled “Drinking the Koolaid.” The article reviewed the process by which the neocon element in the Bush Administration seized control of the process of policy formation and drove the United States in the direction of invasion of Iraq and the destruction of the apparatus of the Iraqi state. They did this through manipulation of the collective mental image Americans had of Iraq and the supposed menace posed by Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Not all the people who participated in this process were neocon in their allegiance but … Continue reading →

Raleigh policy say a weekend shooting that killed one and injured two was self-defense, according to reports. The unidentified homeowner fired at two intruders trying to enter his home during the early morning incident.

“The very survival of the nation will feel at stake. Sometime before the year 2025, America will pass through a great gate in history, commensurate with the American Revolution, Civil War, and twin emergencies of the Great Depression and World War II.” – Strauss & Howe – The Fourth Turning In Part One of this article I laid out the reasons for Gray Champions arising to meet challenges during crisis periods in history. In Part Two of this article I assessed the configuration of Gray Champions throughout the world and the potential impact on the course of this Fourth Turning. The swirling fog of confusion enveloping the … Continue reading →

April, according to the poet, is the cruelest month, and it got crueler 106 years ago when the Titanic hit the iceberg—and Hollywood the jackpot, after the sinking. Being a shipowner’s son—tankers and dry cargoes, not passenger ships—I sympathized with the owners, White Star Line, pushing the envelope to set a record, but still. Going full out in a minefield of icebergs known to lurk nine-tenths beneath the water’s surface is like defending Harvey Weinstein nowadays—one’s bound to end up in the you-know-what. The great ship went down on April 15, 1912, with the loss of 1,517 lives, and a new exhibition … Continue reading →

Many, including Russia’s President Putin, have asked why the US launched an illegal attack on Syria prior to the chemical weapons inspectors examining the site of the alleged chemical attack. This popular question completely misses the point. The US attack on Syria is a clear and indisputable war crime against a sovereign country regardless of whether Syria used a chemical weapon in driving Washington supported terrorists from Douma. No one acted to stop Washington’s war crime. Some of Washington’s vassals, such as Germany and Italy, refused to participate in Washington’s war crime, but no one attempted to block it. The … Continue reading →

In Hawaii a total of 18 earthquakes have been measured under Kilauea volcano during the last 18 hours. The largest earthquakes measured on the Big Island was a magnitude 2.2 earthquake measured on Wednesday, 6km southwest of the volcano. Kilauea is showing increased signs of activity, as the summit lava lake remains at a high level and continues to rise. Hawaiian Volcano Observatory spokeswoman Janet Babb said: “Overall, it’s been on the high side. With this latest inflation, it’s just pushing up even higher.” According to the HVO, the lava level is continuing to rise and there has been a … Continue reading →
